Your private guide will greet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transport you to your accommodation in Arusha for a good night's rest following a long journey.
Overnight: Arumeru River Lodge or similar (bed & breakfast)
-
Wake to magnificent views of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest peak and the world's tallest free-standing mountain. Head west from Arusha after breakfast, viewing local attractions along the way, including an animal sanctuary and Maasai cultural museum. After arrival to your lodging, receive cultural and service project orientation from local Red Sweater Project staff members. Enjoy a traditional African sundowner as you experience your first sunset over the Great Rift Valley escarpment.
Overnight: Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Luxury Lodge or similar (full board)
-
Spend time interacting with students, staff and community members at the Mungere School, a successful development education project in Mungere Village, an East African tribal community. Engage in a service project while participating in student activities and athletics, hike to nearby waterfalls on the Great Rift Valley escarpment, or contribute in the classroom. Tour student homes, dance at a tribal ceremony, and visit the weekly village market, while taking in all the sights, smells and sounds of local life.
Overnights: Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Luxury Lodge or similar (full board)
-
Embark on your African safari adventure after breakfast by driving south toward Tarangire National Park. Second only to Serengeti, this famous park has the greatest concentration of wildlife in Tanzania. In the dry season, the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife, when large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland gather. ~
Overnight: Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Luxury Lodge or similar (full board)
-
Continue your second day on safari heading to the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, where the scenery is as stunning as the exotic wildlife. While the park is known for its famous tree-climbing lions, Tanzania is also home to over 10,000 species of birds - more than any other African country.
Overnight: Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Luxury Lodge or similar (full board)
-
Pick up from your lodge after breakfast and drive through the Conservation Area, descending into the Ngorongoro Crater, a geological marvel boasting several vegetation zones from lakes to forest to savannah. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it is home to both semi-nomadic Maasai pastoralists and 30,000 fauna, having coexisted for centuries despite the crater's tiny size.
Overnight: Ngorongoro Sopa Luxury Lodge or similar (full board)
-
After enjoying breakfast overlooking the magnificent Crater, continue game driving for the day heading toward the heart of Tanzania's bush outback, the plains of the Serengeti.
Overnight: Serengeti Sopa Luxury Lodge or similar (full board)
-
Spend the day traversing the plains, home to millions of ungulates and the world's largest land migration. This pristine sanctuary will give you a glimpse into "the world as it was in the beginning." Relish the vastness of Serengeti, "the land that flows on forever," coupled with some of the best game-viewing all of Africa has to offer.
Overnight: Serengeti Sopa Luxury Lodge or similar (full board)
-
After breakfast, spend the morning on a final game drive through the Serengeti before boarding your chartered flight from the Seronera Airstrip to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your evening departure.

Trip Highlights

MOUNT KILIMANJARO
Standing at 19,341 feet, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak on the continent. Mount Kilimanjaro is composed of three volcanic cones, two of which are extinct. Trek through diverse vegetation zones on this official route to the snow-capped summit, and enjoy the view of the plains along your multi-day trip. At the summit, take in the feeling of accomplishment—and the breathtaking view from the roof of Africa.

MUNGERE VILLAGE & THE MUNGERE SCHOOL Enjoy an authentic East African experience in Mungere Village, a tribal community centrally located amid the northern safari circuit. Guests can interact with students, staff and community members at the Mungere School, while witnessing a successful, locally-driven development education project in action. With an array of activities and eye-opening experiences available, visitors can participate in service projects with local volunteer staff and students and join football (soccer), volleyball or basketball games. Hike to nearby waterfalls on the Great Rift Valley escarpment, and visit the school's friendly neighbors by taking a village home tour lead by Mungere's tri-lingual students. Be sure to take time to enjoy the local life around you, taking in the unique sights, smells and sounds of village life.

LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK At the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, the scenery inside Lake Manyara National Park is as stunning as the exotic wildlife. Known for its flamingos and tree-climbing lions, plentiful herds of elephants, water buffalo, giraffe, and zebra, it is also home to the mysterious leopard.

TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK Only second to Serengeti, Tarangire National Park has the greatest concentration of wildlife in Tanzania. In the dry season, large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland gather at the Tarangire River. The park is known for its spectacular baobab trees, breathtaking views of the Maasai Steppe, and the mountains to the south.

NGORONGORO CRATER CONSERVATION AREA & THE CRATER FLOOR Enjoy wildlife game viewing at the Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage Site and geological marvel. The world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera consists of several vegetation zones and is home to about 30,000 animals, despite its tiny size. It is also home to Olduvai Gorge, where paleoanthropologists Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the remains of homo habilis, the first known ancestors of modern humankind.

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK & CENTRAL SERENGETI (SERONERA) This pristine sanctuary will give you a glimpse into “the world as it was in the beginning,” with some of the best game-viewing all of Africa has to offer. Each year, more than four million wildebeest, zebra and Thomson's gazelle undertake the largest land migration on the planet. Tanzania's first and most famous park, the Serengeti is also renowned for its leopard, lion, cheetah and black rhino.
